Mascot, Milestones and Music: AmBank’s 50th Anniversary Gala Marks New Chapter

AmBank Group concluded its 50th Anniversary celebrations with a gala dinner held at the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event was honoured by the presence of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and brought together AmBank’s leadership, partners, clients, and regulators to mark five decades of growth and contribution under the theme “Malaysia Kita.”

In celebration of its golden jubilee, AmBank unveiled a refreshed version of its camel mascot, Aman, which first appeared during the 68th National Merdeka Parade. The mascot symbolises unity, progress, and national pride, reflecting the bank’s connection with the nation.

Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman Emeritus and Honorary Advisor of AmBank Group, described the gala as a moment to reflect on achievements, honour those who have shaped the organisation, and look ahead with optimism.

He highlighted the launch of both the updated mascot and a commemorative coffee table book that captures AmBank’s history, milestones, and memories.

He added that the bank remains committed to strengthening businesses and communities across Malaysia.

Paying tribute to the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Azman said AmBank was honoured to have Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the dinner, noting his “people-first leadership under the Madani government” and his role in driving Malaysia’s regional and global partnerships, including strengthening ties with China.

He noted the importance of AmBank’s strategic partnerships with Chinese banks, such as CCB, ICBC, and the Bank of China, in encouraging foreign direct investment into Malaysia.

The bank’s collaboration with Huawei to advance ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives and digital transformation was also highlighted as a shared vision for a sustainable and innovative future.

The evening also saw the launch of AmBank’s 50th Anniversary Coffee Table Book, which chronicles AmBank’s five-decade journey, detailing its key milestones and the challenges it has overcome.

The evening was further enriched by a special musical performance from Tan Sri Azman Hashim, who entertained guests alongside the University of Malaya Band, adding a warm and personal touch to the gala.

This gala marked the end of a year-long series of celebrations that reflected AmBank’s journey alongside the nation. The bank is now focusing on a new chapter centred on sustainability, innovation, and nation-building, serving its customers and communities across Malaysia.
