More than 150 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from key sectors gathered in Sabah for the second edition of the “Digital Scaling Seminar for SMEs: Tech Up, Scale Up!”, a nationwide effort to accelerate SME digital adoption.
Organised by SME Corp Malaysia under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP), the seminar builds on the momentum of its first edition held earlier this month in Kuala Lumpur.
The event, officiated by KUSKOP Secretary-General Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud, underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening SME growth.
“The government is committed to building a more progressive and resilient SME ecosystem to achieve a 50% contribution to national GDP by 2030.
“Scaling efforts will be enhanced through capacity-building, digitalisation, and operational improvements in collaboration with industry partners,” he said.
He added that KUSKOP and its agencies, including SME Corp, will continue embedding digital elements and technology enablement in programmes throughout the 13th Malaysia Plan in line with the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
Meanwhile, SME Corp Malaysia CEO Rizal Datuk Nainy encouraged Sabah entrepreneurs to take full advantage of available initiatives.
“One of the first steps is to register for SME Status and undergo the SCORE competitiveness rating. SME Status eases access to government assistance, while SCORE helps businesses assess their capabilities and competitiveness holistically,” he said.
This edition of the seminar was strengthened through strategic collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing and Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises Association, featuring a “Tech Spot” mini exhibition showcasing automation, e-commerce, digital finance, logistics and business management solutions from 12 technology providers.
