The Straits Times Index (STI) opened lower, easing 4.52 points, or 0.1%, to 4,526.84 at 9.11 am, as the market absorbed early trading sentiment.
Market breadth was positive with 86 advancers against 76 decliners, while total volume reached 89.44 million shares valued at S$107.46 million.
Major banks traded mixed in early trade, with DBS down 0.185% to S$54.06, OCBC Bank at S$18.83, and UOB at S$34.61. Singtel edged slightly to S$4.60, YZJ Shipbuilding was at S$3.40, SGX at S$16.80, and Sembcorp Industries at S$5.93.
In the derivatives market, SGX’s Nikkei 225 Index Futures were at 50,450.00, FTSE China A50 Futures at 15,186.00, and MSCI Singapore Index Futures at 440.15, reflecting cautious trading among investors.
