The Election Commission of Malaysia (SPR) has confirmed the upcoming by-elections for the parliamentary seat of P.187 Kinabatangan and the state assembly seat of N.58 Lamag in Sabah following the passing of incumbent Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin.
Under Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution and Article 21(5) of the Sabah State Constitution, the vacant seats must be filled within 60 days from the date the vacancies are confirmed.
To determine the schedule and preparations for the by-elections, SPR will hold a Special Meeting on 16 December 2025, chaired by SPR Chairman Dato’ Sri Ramlan Harun. The meeting will discuss key dates, including the issuance of the election writ, nomination day, polling day and the electoral roll to be used.
A media briefing will follow immediately after the Special Meeting to announce the details to the public.
