Vietjet Commits Up To US$100 Million Into Aircraft Maintenance Hangar

Low-cost carrier Vietjet has committed up to US$100 million to develop aircraft maintenance infrastructure at Long Thanh International Airport, marking a key step in strengthening its operating scale and aviation ecosystem across Southeast Asia.

The investment milestone was underscored by two key developments at Vietnam’s newest aviation hub — the topping-out of Vietjet’s international-standard aircraft maintenance hangar and the operation of its inaugural flight to Long Thanh, signalling the airline’s readiness to support rising regional air travel demand, including key routes linking Malaysia.

The hangar forms part of the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Centre complex at Long Thanh and occupies an 8.4-hectare site. Comprising Hangars No 3 and No 4, the facility is being designed, managed and supervised by international engineering consultants Mace (from UK) and Apave (from France).

Once completed, it will be capable of accommodating up to six narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft simultaneously, or up to ten narrow-body aircraft, meeting stringent global aviation standards.

Separately, Vietjet became the first airline to conduct flight operations at Vietnam’s new international gateway, operating Flight VJ038 from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Long Thanh using an Airbus A321neo.
