The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) is calling on the government to bolster support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and align labour reforms with economic realities as Malaysia looks to 2026.
MEF president Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman stressed the need for policies that enhance productivity, ease business operations, rationalise compliance, and provide stronger financial and transitional support for MSMEs.
“Wage policies, social security measures and labour reforms must reflect prevailing economic conditions to sustain jobs and investor confidence,” he said, noting that rising costs and regulatory obligations had strained business sustainability in 2025.
MEF advocates a consultative, practical and sustainable regulatory approach, urging better policy coordination, clear guidelines and adequate transition periods to prevent compliance burdens from stifling growth.
The federation reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the government and stakeholders to strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness and promote inclusive, sustainable economic growth.
