Universiti Malaya (UM) has launched an internal investigation into allegations circulating on social media linking a senior lecturer to Freemason involvement.
The university said it is reviewing the matter through a formal internal probe to establish the full facts, adding that the process will be conducted fairly and transparently in accordance with existing laws and university regulations.
UM urged the public to refrain from speculation and the spread of unverified information, warning that such actions could compromise the investigation and the privacy of those involved.
It stressed that the case will be handled professionally, ethically and responsibly, in line with good governance principles.
