Heng Hiap Industries Sdn Bhd (HHI), Malaysia’s leading integrated plastic recycler, has become the first mechanical and chemical plastic recycler in Southeast Asia to receive B Corporation certification.
Verified by To-Cert Limited under B Lab standards, the certification recognises HHI’s commitment to high social and environmental performance, transparent governance and responsible business conduct.
The achievement follows support from the Domestic Investment Accelerator Fund for ESG, administered by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to advance ESG adoption in local industries.
HHI CEO Kian Seah said the certification is “the foundation for circular trust”, with every kg of recycled plastic now traceable and impact-verified. The company transforms post-consumer and ocean-bound plastic scrap into premium recycled resins, exporting to over 40 countries and demonstrating that Malaysia can supply globally compliant, sustainable materials at scale.
Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim, CEO of MIDA, hailed the certification as a benchmark for green, high-value industrial growth.
The certification positions HHI at the forefront of Malaysia’s circular economy, aligning with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, the National Industry ESG Framework and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, while bolstering investor confidence in the country’s sustainable manufacturing sector.
