Google LLC has completed its acquisition of Wiz, a New York-based cloud and AI security platform, which will join Google Cloud while retaining its brand and focus on protecting customers across all cloud environments.
The acquisition comes as more businesses and governments migrate critical systems to the cloud and adopt AI technologies, creating new cybersecurity challenges. Jet-setting attacks and AI-powered threats are increasing in speed and sophistication, prompting organisations to seek more integrated security solutions.
Wiz provides a platform that connects to all major clouds and helps prevent and respond to cyber incidents. By combining Wiz’s expertise with Google Cloud’s AI-driven security tools, companies will be able to unify protection across multiple cloud environments and better detect emerging AI-based threats.
“Keeping people safe online has always been part of Google’s mission,” said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, noting that the partnership with Wiz will help organisations innovate with greater confidence.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, added that the acquisition aims to make security a catalyst for innovation rather than a barrier, simplifying the complex task of protecting multicloud environments in the AI era.
Assaf Rappaport, Co-Founder and CEO of Wiz, said joining Google Cloud allows the company to scale its mission of safeguarding customers “wherever they operate – at machine speed”.
He highlighted that Wiz would continue supporting all major cloud and code environments, while leveraging Google’s AI capabilities to prevent breaches before they occur.
The combined platform is expected to accelerate the adoption of multicloud security, providing enterprises and government agencies with stronger protection while helping small businesses manage increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
