Malaysia must remain disciplined, resilient and united as the global energy crisis intensifies, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, warning that the world is entering a more uncertain and challenging phase.
In a statement following the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) meeting today, Anwar said the government had examined in detail the worsening global energy situation and its implications on Malaysia’s economy and rakyat.
He stressed that while external shocks are mounting, Malaysia’s economic fundamentals remain strong, allowing the government to respond proactively based on data and current realities.
“We cannot afford to be complacent or overly comfortable. We must be prepared with discipline, resilience and a strong sense of togetherness,” he said.
Anwar added that the government will continue engaging closely with industry players, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to ensure policy measures are comprehensive, balanced and effective in cushioning the impact on households and businesses.
He also urged Malaysians to strengthen the domestic economy by prioritising local goods and supporting local entrepreneurs, describing internal resilience as a critical buffer against global volatility, as Putrajaya continues efforts to safeguard energy stability and protect public welfare.
