The government will implement Work-From-Home (WFH) arrangements for the public sector and government-linked companies (GLCs) effective April 15, as part of measures to manage the impact of the ongoing global energy crisis.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the decision, reached at the Cabinet level, aims to reduce fuel consumption while ensuring the sustainability of the country’s energy supply.
He said the move comes amid continued disruptions to global supply chains driven by escalating tensions involving Israel, the United States and Iran, which have added pressure to energy markets.
Despite these challenges, Anwar noted that Malaysia has remained resilient, with the government maintaining key fuel subsidies to cushion the impact on the rakyat.
He added that the subsidised price of RON95 petrol under the BUDI95 programme continues to be maintained at RM1.99 per litre for now, as part of broader efforts to support households during the current period of uncertainty.
