Chanel’s Cruise 2026–27 show has landed in Biarritz, and the takeaway is immediate: it’s all about the bag. Matthieu Blazy’s first outing for Chanel puts oversized totes, bold double-C logos and easy, beach-ready styling front and centre.
Staged at the Casino de Biarritz, the show leaned into the town’s coastal energy while keeping the brand’s signature polish intact. A cast including Alex Consani, Mona Tougaard and Bhavitha Mandava brought a fresh, current feel to the runway.
Blazy’s starting point is the history of Gabrielle Chanel in Biarritz, where she first pushed ideas of comfort and movement in women’s fashion. That influence shows up in a collection that mixes things up rather than sticking to strict categories.
Workwear sits next to tailoring, beachwear blends with evening pieces, and everything feels designed to move.
The clothes follow that same approach. Basque stripes, strong colour contrasts and relaxed accessories run alongside tweed, structured skirts and the classic black dress. There are nods to maritime style and seaside culture, with the collection clearly aimed at how people dress on holiday now.
On the ground, the show had a noticeable impact on the city. Streets around the casino were closed, crowds gathered, and more than 900 guests attended across two showings. The buzz extended beyond the venue, with locals and visitors tracking the build-up and sharing updates as the event took shape.
The return to Biarritz also reconnects Chanel with one of its original addresses at Villa Larralde, where the house first set up in 1915. A temporary boutique now brings that history into the present, offering a summer-focused edit that ties into the show.
