Lisa is heading to one of the biggest stages in global sport. FIFA has confirmed that the BLACKPINK star will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, putting K-pop front and centre ahead of one of football’s most-watched tournaments.
The Thai singer will take the stage at SoFi Stadium on June 12 before the US takes on Paraguay. She joins a major international line-up featuring Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Rema and Tyla, with more names expected to be announced closer to the event.
The appearance is another major moment for K-pop’s global reach. Lisa is expected to become the first female artist from a K-pop group to perform at a FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, following Jungkook’s performance at the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
For FIFA, the line-up is part of a bigger push to turn the World Cup into a cultural event as much as a sporting one.
The 2026 tournament will open across three countries, with the United States, Canada and Mexico each hosting their own ceremony. While Los Angeles leans into pop and hip-hop, Mexico City’s show will feature artists including J Balvin and Maná.
At the same time, Toronto’s line-up includes Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette. FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the ceremonies are designed to reflect the culture and diversity of each host nation.
Off the pitch, Lisa’s 2026 calendar is already looking packed. The singer has also been named to the host committee for the Met Gala 2026, alongside major names from fashion, entertainment and sport. Co-chairs for next year’s event include Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Beyoncé.
Since debuting with BLACKPINK in 2016, Lisa has steadily built a successful solo career alongside the group’s global success. Her single “Lalisa” broke first-week sales records for a female K-pop solo artist, while her album Alter Ego and recent collaboration “Bad Angel” with Anyma have kept her firmly in the international spotlight.
Now, with the World Cup opening ceremony added to her growing list of milestones, Lisa’s crossover from pop star to global entertainment figure shows no sign of slowing down.
