Industry Expresses Gratitude to Gobind for Continued Efforts to Champion MSME Success

Malaysia has completed the disbursement of RM19 million under the Geran Digital PMKS MADANI (GDPM) following intervention by the Ministry of Digital to resolve payment delays affecting participating companies, according to a statement.

The Ministry of Digital said it worked in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to expedite settlement of all outstanding claims, with funds now fully credited to companies through Bank Simpanan Nasional. The issue involved delayed grant payments under a Budget 2025 initiative aimed at accelerating digital adoption among micro, small and medium enterprises.

GDPM is a key government programme involving more than 370 digitalisation partners providing solutions across nine areas including e-invoicing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital payments.

The ministry said its priority remains the swift and efficient delivery of allocated funds, adding that the resolution reflects efforts to address operational delays while strengthening confidence among MSMEs and industry partners in public service delivery.

It added that the initiative supports Malaysia’s broader ambition of becoming an AI nation by 2030, with a focus on ensuring smaller businesses are not left behind in the country’s digital transformation.

Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo confirmed the completion of the disbursement and said, “I am pleased to confirm that all payments, totaling RM19 million, were successfully credited to the respective companies through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN).”

The ministry said the resolution forms part of ongoing efforts to improve execution efficiency for government-led digitalisation programmes targeting MSME modernisation and competitiveness.

Meanwhile, the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) welcomed the resolution, describing it as an important example of responsive leadership by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo in addressing industry concerns and ensuring that commitments made under government-led digitalisation programmes are honoured.

PIKOM Chairman Adjunct Practice Prof. Alex Liew said Gobind’s direct intervention, together with the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Digital, Ministry of Finance, MDEC and Bank Simpanan Nasional, helped bring closure to an issue that had affected digitalisation partners and MSMEs that had continued delivering solutions in support of Malaysia’s digital economy agenda.

He said the resolution reflected Gobind’s commitment to execution, accountability and industry confidence, while sending a positive signal to the technology ecosystem that the government is prepared to listen, act and resolve implementation challenges in a timely manner.

Similarly, the SME Association of Malaysia also welcomed the completion of the RM19 million payout, saying that the settlement brought much-needed relief to MSMEs and technology providers.
