PM Unveils RM230 Million Funding For Underprivileged Women Entrepreneurs

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has launched an initiative under Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) that will provide RM230 million in financing to empower underprivileged women, particularly those in the B40 income group, through entrepreneurship.

The initiative targets 29,000 new women entrepreneurs nationwide and is open to Malaysians aged 18 and above with a household income not exceeding RM5,880 or a per capita income of RM1,470.

Anwar said the programme reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s economic participation, noting AIM’s strong repayment track record and the discipline shown by women borrowers.

The scheme also remains open to applicants who are blacklisted or declared bankrupt, as part of its inclusive approach to poverty alleviation.

The scheme targets women across all communities, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Bumiputera groups in Sabah and Sarawak, Orang Asli, the Siamese community, as well as urban and rural B40 women.

Financing ranges from RM3,000 to RM30,000 under economic categories and social financing packages offering up to RM15,000 financing.
