Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and former Environmental Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad have formally broken from PKR and taken over Parti Bersama Malaysia also known as Malaysian United Party (MU).
Parti Bersama Malaysia founder and president Tan Gin Theam handed over the party’s registration certificate to Rafizi and Nik Nazmi at the PJ Performing Arts Centre in front of more than 2,000 supporters this afternoon.
Parti Bersama Malaysia was registered in 2016 and is based in Penang.
Rafizi and Nik Nazmi resigned as minister respectively in May 2025 after losing in the PKR party elections — Rafizi failing to defend his post as PKR deputy president after losing to Nurul Izzah Anwar, while Nik Nazmi lost his bid for the vice-presidency.
Rafizi has been Pandan MP for two terms, while Nik Nazmi is serving his second term as Setiawangsa MP and was previously Seri Setia assemblyman from 2008 to 2018.
