Nearly 9,000 Vehicles Registered For Subsidises, Fleet Cards To Get Between 900-5000 Litres

A total of 8,862 vehicles have been registered under the enhanced Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) and Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) since the expanded eligibility criteria took effect on June 1.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said registrations between June 1 and 3 comprised 8,524 diesel-powered pick-up trucks, 329 diesel jeeps and nine petrol jeeps.

The expanded scheme now covers pick-up trucks and jeeps used in the land freight transport sector, provided they are registered under a company or business entity and classified as commercial vehicles by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Armizan said the Ministry has also revised monthly fuel quotas under the programme to strengthen controls and curb subsidy leakages and misuse of fleet cards.

Under the revised framework, fleet cards will be allocated between 900 litres and 5,000 litres per month across 23 eligible vehicle categories, based on actual fuel consumption data collected since 2024.

Companies requiring additional fuel allocations may appeal to the Petroleum Subsidy Approval Committee (JKSP) with supporting operational justifications and at least three months of fuel usage records.

Between June 1 and 3, eight companies submitted quota appeals involving 82 vehicles, with the applications currently under review.

Armizan said the Ministry will continue refining the programmes to ensure fuel subsidies are channelled to eligible recipients while curbing leakages, abuse and smuggling.
