Tiffany & Co. is giving one of its most recognisable jewellery designs a major update. The luxury jeweller has unveiled the Sixteen Stone Solitaire Diamond Ring, a new addition to the Sixteen Stone collection that reimagines a motif first introduced by legendary designer Jean Schlumberger in 1959.
If the Sixteen Stone name sounds familiar, there’s a reason. The collection’s signature X-shaped pattern has been a Tiffany staple for decades, originally appearing on a wedding band designed to symbolise the strength of love.
Now, that iconic detail takes centre stage in a solitaire ring, with a diamond ranging from two to just under three carats framed by a basket of distinctive X-shaped prongs.
The design stays true to Schlumberger’s original inspiration while feeling relevant for today’s jewellery buyer. Six hand-applied 18k yellow gold X motifs sit along a platinum band, creating a contrast that nods to the collection’s cross-stitch influence and showcases Tiffany’s craftsmanship.
The launch is also expanding the Sixteen Stone family beyond the new solitaire. For the first time, Tiffany has introduced all-metal Sixteen Stone rings, alongside five additional styles designed to fit everything from everyday wear to milestone moments.
Helping introduce the latest chapter is Tiffany ambassador Natalie Portman, who fronts the new campaign. Her involvement signals the brand’s focus on bringing the Sixteen Stone collection to a new generation, while reinforcing the idea that great design doesn’t need to be reinvented entirely to feel fresh.
