Shakira To Headline FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony In Mexico

Colombian singer Shakira will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, where she is set to perform the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai”, FIFA announced on Friday.

The performance will take place at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City ahead of the tournament’s opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

Shakira will be joined by Nigerian artist Burna Boy during the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin 90 minutes before kick-off. The official World Cup song, “Dai Dai”, takes its name from an Italian phrase meaning “let’s go” or “come on”.

The opening show will also feature performances from Colombian star J Balvin and South African singer Tyla.

FIFA also confirmed that Shakira will perform during the first-ever World Cup final halftime show, which will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The singer has a long association with football’s biggest tournament, having previously performed official World Cup songs including “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 tournament and “La La La (Brazil 2014)” for the 2014 edition.
