Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in six states until 11am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The affected areas are Langkawi in Kedah, Penang, Bera in Pahang, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, as well as Tangkak in Johor.
MetMalaysia said the thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms producing rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The warning is a short-term alert valid for a period of not more than six hours from the time it is issued.
