Velesto Energy Berhad has appointed veteran corporate leader Nasution Mohamed as its new non-independent non-executive chairman, effective June 5, 2026.
The appointment comes shortly after the retirement of former chairman Mohd Rashid Mohd Yusof, who stepped down following the company’s 16th annual general meeting on June 3 after serving on the board for approximately nine years.
Nasution, 54, brings more than three decades of leadership experience spanning telecommunications, finance, aviation leasing, property development and infrastructure sectors.
He currently serves as Group Chief Executive Officer of the Prolintas Group, a position he has held since August 2025.
Throughout his career, Nasution has held several senior executive roles, including chief operating officer of Digital Nasional Berhad, chief financial and strategy officer of Maxis Berhad, managing director and chief executive officer of Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad, and executive director of UDA Holdings Berhad.
He also previously worked with KPMG in both Australia and Malaysia, as well as with Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad.
Nasution holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Apart from his new role at Velesto, he also serves on the board of Prolintas Infra Business Trust.
The appointment is expected to strengthen Velesto’s board leadership as the company continues to navigate opportunities in the offshore drilling and oil and gas services sector amid an evolving energy landscape.
