ETCon26 Concludes With Strong Deal Flow, Advancing ASEAN Energy Transition Agenda

The Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCon26) wrapped up with a strong wave of deal-making, underscoring its role in accelerating ASEAN’s clean energy ambitions through concrete partnerships and implementation-focused outcomes.

Hosted by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), the three-day conference concluded with the formalisation of 15 strategic partnerships and agreements spanning renewable energy, cross-border electricity trade, grid modernisation, gas infrastructure and capability-building initiatives.

The event also drew more than 4,000 delegates from over 60 countries, alongside 42 strategic partners and around 80 global speakers, reinforcing ETCon26’s position as a key regional platform bridging policy dialogue with investment execution across the energy transition ecosystem.

The agreements support a wide range of initiatives, including hybrid hydro-floating solar projects with battery storage, rooftop solar deployment, cross-border renewable energy collaboration, and grid enhancement programmes aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

High-level participation from national leaders across energy, economic and environmental portfolios highlighted strong policy backing for the initiatives, signalling institutional alignment behind ASEAN’s transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Key discussions throughout the conference focused on rising power demand driven by artificial intelligence, digitalisation and data centre expansion, as well as the urgent need to strengthen grid resilience and accelerate regional interconnection efforts such as the ASEAN Power Grid.

TNB President and CEO Datuk Ir Ts Shamsul Ahmad said ETCon26 demonstrated Malaysia’s readiness in policy, partnerships and technical capability to drive the energy transition forward at scale.

With strong deal flow and clearer pathways to implementation, ETCon26 has set the stage for deeper regional collaboration, positioning ASEAN to accelerate its shift towards a more sustainable, secure and integrated energy future.
