Malaysia-Korea To Advance Biogas Development, Carbon Neutrality Cooperation

Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco) and Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corp) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in biogas development, creating a structured framework for joint work on technical cooperation, policy exchange and sustainable bioenergy projects.

Under the MoU, both sides will collaborate on knowledge sharing, capacity building, research and innovation, as well as the development and commercialisation of biogas-related projects.

The partnership is expected to leverage Korea’s experience in converting organic waste into renewable energy and Malaysia’s strong biomass potential from its agricultural and palm oil sectors.

Officials said the cooperation comes amid rising global demand for low-carbon energy solutions and increasing interest in converting organic waste into commercial value streams.

Both organisations said the partnership marks a step forward in expanding practical cooperation on biogas development and supporting long-term carbon neutrality goals in both countries.
