Bvlgari is leaning into summer with two new additions to its Bvlgari Bvlgari line, and they’re designed to feel like a snapshot of an Italian season on the wrist. The “Roman Summer” editions arrive in a 33 mm case and focus on one clear idea: colour, light, and texture that shift with movement rather than sit still.
The headline detail is the dial. Each watch uses hand-crafted mother-of-pearl marquetry, built from around 400 tiny pieces arranged into a mosaic-like surface.
One version comes in soft pink, the other in a fresh green. Both are paired with a warm gold bezel — rose gold for the pink dial, yellow gold for the green — set into a steel case and bracelet for a more modern, everyday balance.
The design language isn’t new. The Bvlgari Bvlgari watch dates back to 1975, when Gianni Bulgari created it as a private gift for top clients of the brand’s Geneva boutique. It was later refined by designer Gérald Genta in 1977, and the engraved double logo on the bezel has remained central ever since. It’s a nod to Roman coin inscriptions and remains one of the most recognisable elements of the watch.
What changes here is the dial execution. The marquetry technique references ancient Roman decorative arts, where coloured stone and mosaic work were used in architectural detail. Translated into watch form, it creates a surface that shifts under light rather than presenting a flat colour. Diamond hour markers are kept minimal, so the dial remains the focus without feeling overloaded.
Both watches stick to a practical setup. A 33 mm case keeps the proportions restrained, and a quartz movement handles hours and minutes for reliability. The steel bracelet combines polished and satin finishes, giving it enough contrast to sit between jewellery and daily wear. A folding clasp keeps the profile clean on the wrist.
There are a few quiet jewellery details built in. The crown is set with a cabochon-cut pink tourmaline, adding a subtle colour accent without drawing attention away from the dial. Water resistance sits at 3 ATM, which places this firmly in everyday lifestyle territory rather than sport or technical use.
Taken as a pair, the Roman Summer editions sit neatly within Bvlgari’s long-running approach: blending jewellery craftsmanship with watchmaking precision.
