Tune Talk Launches Malaysia’s First Network-Level Family Mobile Plan

Tune Talk has launched Epik+ Family Safe, which it says is Malaysia’s first family mobile plan with integrated network-level parental controls, as concerns over children’s online safety continue to gain prominence in Malaysia.

The launch comes amid growing national discussions on strengthening online safeguards for minors, including proposals to restrict social media access for children under the age of 16. The new service is designed to give parents greater control over their children’s internet usage without relying on multiple apps or device settings.

Unlike conventional parental control tools installed on individual devices, Epik+ Family Safe operates at the mobile network level. Parents can activate content filtering with a single tap and choose from three protection levels — low, medium or high — to block content across up to 56 categories, with settings that can be adjusted as children grow.

The solution is built on Tune Talk’s cloud-native mobile network and developed in collaboration with Nokia, enabling internet filtering directly through the network instead of on a child’s device.

Tune Talk’s Family Digital Confidence Survey found that 48.1% of Malaysian parents consider exposure to age-inappropriate content their biggest online safety concern. The survey also showed that more than three in five parents lack confidence in managing their children’s digital habits.

Tune Talk Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Gurtaj Singh Padda said the company believes telecommunications providers should play a greater role in supporting families as mobile connectivity increasingly becomes children’s first point of access to the internet.

“Parents are not looking to disconnect their children’s access; they want practical support to help them navigate digital life more safely. Epik+ Family Safe is Tune Talk’s contribution to that wider ecosystem, offering parents a layer of support directly within the connectivity experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nokia Head of Southeast Asia Ming Kin Ngiam said the collaboration demonstrates how network-level technology can simplify parental controls while providing a more secure connectivity experience for households.

The prepaid plan is priced at RM80 per month and includes one parent line and one child line, 700GB of high-speed data without Fair Usage Policy (FUP) restrictions, network-level parental controls and personal accident insurance coverage of up to RM500,000.

Epik+ Family Safe is available through the Tune Talk app, the company’s website and participating retail outlets nationwide.
