Fans waiting for Robert Pattinson’s return as Batman will have to wait longer. The Batman Part 2 has received another release date delay, with the film now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on February 18, 2028.
The sequel was originally planned for an October 2026 release before being pushed to October 2027. Director Matt Reeves has now confirmed the latest move, extending the wait for the follow-up to 2022’s The Batman.
The delay comes shortly after production began in June. While filming is underway, the new release date means the sequel will arrive nearly six years after the first film, assuming there are no further changes.
There is a small update for fans in the form of new footage shared by Reeves. The brief clip shows Pattinson back in the Batman suit, standing in a snowy Gotham setting that matches the film’s previously revealed winter backdrop. Beyond that, details remain limited.
Forbes reported that the delay has not been explained, though it is expected to be related to the film’s post-production timeline.
The sequel will continue the story after the events of HBO’s The Penguin, with Colin Farrell set to return as Oswald Cobblepot. The cast also expands with new additions including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry and Charles Dance.
Reeves has previously confirmed that the film will introduce a villain who has not appeared in a live-action Batman movie before, though specific plot details remain under wraps.
