Recycling can now be done without getting out of your vehicle. Drive-Thru Recycling Centres (DTRC) allow Malaysians to drop off recyclable items such as paper, plastic, aluminium cans and glass through a drive-in system.
The centres are designed to make the recycling process faster and more convenient. Users can drive in, submit their recyclable materials and leave without having to look for separate collection points.
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) efforts to encourage more recycling participation and improve waste management through SWCorp.
There are currently 183 DTRC facilities nationwide in states that have adopted Act 672. These include Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Kedah, Melaka, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Some centres also offer reward programmes, allowing users to collect points and redeem incentives based on the recyclable materials they submit.
The facilities accept common household recyclables and provide an additional option for those seeking a quicker way to manage waste.
With recycling rates depending on public participation, DTRCs aim to make recycling easier to fit into everyday routines.
