Marvel Studios thrilled fans at San Diego Comic-Con with a blockbuster lineup of upcoming films, including the surprise announcement of “Ghost Rider” starring Ryan Gosling and “Black Panther 3”, as the studio ramps up its next phase of superhero release.
The biggest reveal saw Gosling confirmed as the new Ghost Rider, with Shawn Levy, the director behind Deadpool & Wolverine, set to helm the film. The movie is slated for release in 2028.
“Is this really happening?” Gosling asked as he made a surprise appearance on stage, adding, “If we’re going to do this, there’s only one director.”
Marvel also confirmed “Black Panther 3″ will hit cinemas on Dec. 15, 2028, introducing David Jonsson as the new T’Challa — the son of the late King T’Challa, originally portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman.
Joining the panel were returning stars Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, alongside director Ryan Coogler. Jonsson described taking on the iconic role as “an honour.”
Fans were also treated to exclusive first-look footage from “Avengers: Doomsday,” which showed Doctor Doom overwhelming Earth’s mightiest heroes while commanding an army of Sentinels, the mutant-hunting robots made famous in the X-Men comics.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on Dec. 18, the same day Warner Bros.’ “Dune 3” arrives in cinemas, setting up what industry watchers are already calling the “Dunesday” box office showdown.
The next chapter of the Avengers saga, “Avengers: Secret Wars,” is scheduled for release in December 2027.
