Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister (PM) and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn is in Malaysia for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation ahead of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027.
According to Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Sokhonn is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Aug 3, with both sides expected to reaffirm longstanding ties and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
On Aug 4, he and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will co-chair the third Malaysia-Cambodia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation meeting in Kuala Lumpur, the first such meeting in two decades.
The ministers are also expected to sign the meeting’s Agreed Minutes, outlining its key outcomes and their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation.
Malaysia-Cambodia trade jumped 27.4% in 2025 to RM5 billion, with Malaysian exports reaching RM4.13 billion and imports from Cambodia totalling RM880 million.
