Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) has partnered with Artivion Malaysia Sdn Bhd to strengthen regional training and knowledge-sharing in advanced aortic care.
Under the collaboration, IJN will be designated as the Asia-Pacific Aortic Care Training Centre of Excellence, providing a regional platform for healthcare professionals to develop knowledge and procedural skills in managing and treating complex aortic conditions.
The partnership will introduce the Aortic Care Essential (ACE) Training Course, allowing local and international healthcare professionals to observe aortic procedures, learn advanced surgical approaches and gain practical insights from IJN’s clinical teams.
Training will be conducted at IJN and include procedural demonstrations involving Artivion’s aortic medical devices, while Artivion will provide product training to support the safe and effective use of its technologies.
IJN Group Chief Executive Officer Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohamed Ezani Md Taib said the designation recognised IJN’s expertise, facilities and experience in managing complex aortic conditions.
“Being named Asia-Pacific Aortic Care Training Centre of Excellence is an important recognition of IJN’s expertise, facilities and experience in managing complex aortic conditions.
“Through this collaboration, IJN will be able to share its clinical knowledge with healthcare professionals across the region including Malaysia, thus contributing to the development of a highly skilled medical workforce capable of delivering safe and effective aortic care,” he said.
IJN Chief Clinical Officer Datuk Dr. Shaiful Azmi Yahaya said structured training and procedural exposure were essential for strengthening the management of complex aortic conditions.
He said the ACE Training Course would allow participants to observe real-world clinical practices and learn from experienced specialists, potentially improving clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Artivion Chief Commercial Officer John Davis said the company was delighted to partner with IJN, describing it as a premier institution recognised for its clinical practices and patient outcomes.
The agreement will remain in effect until Dec 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension. Training sessions will be jointly arranged based on IJN’s clinical schedule and the suitability of participating healthcare professionals.
