Selangor will move to blacklist business owners who sell or misuse their business licences for foreigners, as the state government steps up enforcement over the use of business premises and assets by foreign nationals.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said all local authorities in Selangor had been instructed to blacklist parties found selling or misusing business licences to foreigners.
“The state government’s position remains clear, namely not allowing ownership of business licences or assets by foreigners, and enforcement action will continue to be strengthened according to the powers provided,” he said in a post on X after the first day of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting.
The move comes as the state government intensifies monitoring of undocumented migrant settlements, particularly involving the Rohingya community. Amirudin said checks by district offices and relevant agencies identified 9,515 Rohingya across several locations in Hulu Langat.
He said the state was coordinating integrated enforcement operations with local authorities, the Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department and other agencies to safeguard public safety, public order and compliance with the law.
However, Amirudin stressed that enforcement must be balanced with humanitarian considerations, including education, welfare and the rights of affected communities.
“The issue of education, welfare and human rights of affected groups cannot be sidelined, in line with a fair, measured and responsible approach,” he said.
