Ex-CEO, Ex-CFO Held Over Alleged RM370 Million Share Purchase Abuse

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a former chief executive officer (CEO) and former chief financial officer (CFO) of a statutory body-owned company over alleged abuse of power involving the purchase of shares worth RM370 million.

The two former executives, aged 68 and 60, were detained after appearing at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at about 6.30pm yesterday to give their statements.

Both were later released last night on health grounds and are scheduled to return to the MACC at 10am today to continue having their statements recorded.

The investigation follows a special team set up to review findings from the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Tabung Haji, which was made public through the official portal of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) on July 29.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
