Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim turns 79 today, with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) extending its birthday wishes to the Prime Minister.
In a post on X, MOF wished Anwar a happy 79th birthday, expressing hope that he would continue to enjoy wellbeing and good health.
“Happy 79th Birthday to YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. May Dato’ Seri always be blessed with wellbeing and remain in good health,” the ministry said.
The birthday message comes as Anwar is currently undergoing medical examinations and procedures prescribed by a team of medical specialists.
In a separate statement today, Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said Anwar is expected to remain under medical monitoring for two days.
The statement did not disclose details on the nature of the examinations or procedures being carried out.
The Prime Minister’s Office called on Malaysians to pray for Anwar’s examinations and procedures to proceed smoothly and for him to be blessed with continued good health so that he can return to his duties as usual in the near future.
Anwar, who was born on Aug 10, 1947, became Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister in November 2022 and also serves as Finance Minister.
