Over 82,000 Candidates Secure Public University Degree Places

A total of 82,092 candidates have secured offers to pursue bachelor’s degree programmes at 20 public universities this year, the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) said.

The figure represents 76.10% of the 107,875 eligible applications submitted through UPUOnline, with 1,146 bachelor’s degree programmes available for the current intake.

MOHE said the selection process was carried out based on meritocracy, with eligible candidates ranked according to their merit scores from the highest to the lowest.

“The ministry extends its best wishes to all successful candidates and hopes that the opportunity to continue their studies at the higher education level will be utilised to the fullest,” it said in a statement today.

For candidates who were not offered a place, MOHE will provide another opportunity through the UPUOnline appeal process.

The appeal window opens at noon today and will remain open for 10 days until 5pm on Aug 23, 2026.
