Bitcoin and Ethereum ended the Aug 10-14 week under pressure, as fading ETF demand, regulatory uncertainty and weak liquidity outweighed support from softer US inflation data.
Bitcoin started the week around US$65,242 on Aug 10, supported by about US$1.1 billion of recent inflows into US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. It slipped to US$63,906 the following day amid macroeconomic uncertainty and leveraged positioning.
Ethereum followed the downturn, falling below US$1,900 to around US$1,871 on Aug 11. It recovered to about US$1,895 by Aug 13, but softer-than-expected US inflation failed to generate a sustained crypto rally.
By Aug 14, Bitcoin had fallen to around US$62,847, roughly 3.7% below its Aug 10 level, as weak liquidity and continued caution limited buying despite softer inflation readings.
Sentiment was further hit by the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s cancellation of a meeting on proposed crypto rules, while the Senate entered its recess without advancing the Clarity Act, adding to uncertainty over the industry’s regulatory outlook.
