Media Chinese International Limited has announced the retirement of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tiong Kiew Chiong, effective August 14, 2026.
The 66-year-old executive stepped down from his directorship upon the conclusion of the company’s 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on August 14, 2026, after choosing not to seek re-election.
Mr. Tiong was appointed to the board as an Executive Director on May 2, 1998, and served as the Group CEO, Chairman of the Group Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Sustainability Committee.
Throughout his multi-decade career in the publishing sector, he held key leadership positions within the wider group network:
Mr. Tiong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Honours) from York University in Toronto, Canada.
Following his retirement, Mr. Tiong holds a direct interest of 5,228,039 ordinary shares in MCIL. The group confirmed he has no conflict of interest with the listed issuer.
The company filing noted that Mr. Tiong is a distant relative of major shareholders Dato’ Sri Dr. Tiong Ik King and the late Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong Hiew King, as well as company directors Ms. Tiong Choon and Ms. Tiong Yijia.
