A familiar Bukit Bintang landmark has reopened. The Federal Kuala Lumpur is welcoming guests again after a refurbishment of its guestrooms and public spaces.
The hotel now has 150 refurbished guestrooms and suites. The rooms feature updated furnishings, neutral tones and more natural light. Some also have views of Jalan Bukit Bintang and the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
The refurbishment also covers the lobby, social areas and retail spaces. At the same time, the hotel has kept several original features, including its façade and the white marble lions at the entrance.
The Federal Kuala Lumpur first opened in August 1957, shortly before Merdeka. It was Malaysia’s first international-class hotel and has remained part of the city’s hotel scene for decades.
The renovation updates the interiors while retaining parts of the building’s original character. The rooms now include a mini pantry, and sustainability measures have also been added as part of the refurbishment.
To mark the reopening, the hotel is offering a package for Malaysian residents from RM368 nett per night. It includes buffet breakfast and applies to stays until November 30, 2026.
The reopening also coincides with Visit Malaysia 2026, as Kuala Lumpur continues to see demand from both local and international travellers.
