Hong Kong stocks closed firmly higher on Aug 21, with the Hang Seng Index surging 310.97 points, or 1.21%, to 26,009.46, reclaiming the 26,000 level and extending its winning streak to a fifth session.
The Hang Seng Tech Index climbed 1.40% to 4,766.16, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 1.01% to 8,634.34. The Hang Seng finished the week 3.55% higher.
Among blue chips, Lao Pu Gold surged 7.46%, Henderson Land Development jumped 7.17%, while CITIC advanced 6.20%.
On the downside, CSPC Pharmaceutical fell 3.47% and Tingyi declined 2.85%, bucking the broader market advance.
Market turnover stood at about HK$257.3 billion for the session.
