UEM Sunrise Berhad announced the appointment of Datuk Wira Sr Azmar Talib as Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective 30 August 2026. He succeeds Datuk Hisham Hamdan, who served as Chairman since 1 July 2023.
Datuk Wira Sr Azmar has served on the Board of UEM Sunrise as an Independent Non- Executive Director since 11 March 2024. His appointment provides continuity at Board level, supported by his familiarity with the Company, understanding of its strategic priorities and his extensive experience in the property development, construction and corporate leadership.
During his tenure on the Board, he has served as Chairman of the Board Development Committee and as member of the Board Tender Committee, contributing independent oversight and industry perspective to the Company’s development priorities and valuable perspective on nation-building objectives. Upon assuming the Chairmanship, he will relinquish both positions, reinforcing clear governance, appropriate checks and balances, and independent oversight.
Datuk Wira Sr Azmar brings over four decades of experience and has held various senior leadership positions across property and corporate sectors. He currently serves as Group Chief Executive Officer of TRX City Sdn Bhd, overseeing the development of Tun Razak Exchange, Malaysia’s international financial district, as well as Bandar Malaysia. He previously held various leadership positions within the Permodalan Nasional Berhad group.
