Macao Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai is undertaking a working visit to Malaysia from Sept 2 to 5, aimed at reviewing bilateral ties and advancing cooperation in trade, the economy, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The visit marks Sam’s first trip to Malaysia since taking office as Macao’s fourth Chief Executive in 2024. He is accompanied by his spouse, Secretary for Economy and Finance Ng Wai Han, senior government officials and representatives from the economic, trade, education, tourism and cultural sectors.
During the visit, Sam is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with both sides expected to review existing Malaysia-Macao cooperation and discuss future directions within the “One Country, Two Systems” framework.
Malaysia-Macao trade totalled RM367.7 million in 2025, up 73.6% from 2024, underscoring growing commercial ties between the two markets.
