Malaysia’s unsubsidised fuel prices will fall by five sen per litre from Sept 3 to Sept 9, with RON97 priced at RM4.25 per litre, RON95 at RM3.77 and diesel at RM4.67, according to the Finance Ministry.
The ministry said the reduction reflects lower global crude oil prices during most of the Automatic Pricing Mechanism calculation period, although prices picked up towards the end amid renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
It added that global refined petroleum markets remain tight due to disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, reduced refining capacity in several countries and fuel export restrictions, keeping near-term price volatility elevated.
Subsidised fuel prices, meanwhile, remain unchanged, with eligible BUDI95 recipients continuing to pay RM1.99 per litre for RON95, while BUDI Diesel users pay RM2.10 per litre. The government subsidy amounts to RM1.78 per litre for BUDI95 and RM2.57 per litre for BUDI Diesel.
The basic monthly entitlement under BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel has also been restored to 300 litres from Sept 1, while eligible diesel pickup and jeep owners receive an additional 100 litres, taking their monthly allocation to as much as 400 litres.
