The stock market movement saw a nearly balanced market breadth, with losers edging gainers by just two counters in a mixed trading session as turnover picked up.

Malayan Cement Bhd recorded the biggest decline, falling 51 sen to RM5.52. Hong Leong Industries Bhd shed 34 sen to RM17.06, followed by Petronas Gas Bhd, which declined 26 sen to RM17.44.

Despite the mixed trade, trading activity strengthened, with turnover rising to 4.13 billion units worth RM3.14 billion from 3.6 billion units valued at RM2.45 billion on Sept 7.

The near-even split between gainers and losers reflected cautious, mixed trading, even as overall market participation improved.
