Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is set to make an official visit to Malaysia next month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
Anwar said the visit would provide an opportunity for Malaysia and Egypt to discuss bilateral ties and related matters in greater depth.
“Insya-Allah, several matters relating to Malaysia-Egypt relations will be discussed in greater depth when President El-Sisi makes his official visit to Malaysia next month,” he shared in a social media post.
No further details on the visit were disclosed.
El-Sisi was among the BRICS leaders Anwar met on the sidelines of a dinner held in conjunction with the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi yesterday.
Malaysia and Egypt agreed in 2024 to work towards elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Anwar arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the BRICS summit, which concluded today. He will next undertake a working visit to Kerala, officially known as Keralam, in southern India before departing for the Maldives tomorrow.
This is Anwar’s second visit to India as prime minister, following his first in August 2024.
