DOSM: Malaysia’s Domestic Tourism Receipts Jump 13.6% To RM121.3 Billion In 2025

Malaysia’s domestic tourism receipts surged 13.6% to RM121.3 billion in 2025, supported by 290.1 million domestic visitors, up 11.5% from the previous year, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

Kuala Lumpur generated the highest domestic tourism receipts at RM16.9 billion, followed by Selangor at RM15.8 billion and Pahang at RM9.8 billion.

Selangor, meanwhile, recorded the highest number of domestic visitors at 36.4 million, ahead of Kuala Lumpur with 35.1 million and Perak with 23.6 million.

For domestic tourists specifically, Pahang led with 11 million arrivals, followed by Selangor at 10.6 million and Perak at 10.4 million.

Shopping remained the biggest contributor to tourism receipts, generating RM44.8 billion nationwide. Kuala Lumpur led shopping expenditure with RM7.9 billion, followed by Selangor at RM6.7 billion and Sarawak at RM3.6 billion.

Food and beverage spending totalled RM19.5 billion, while fuel purchases contributed RM16.4 billion. Selangor recorded the highest receipts in both categories at RM2.5 billion and RM2.2 billion, respectively.

DOSM said all states recorded increases in both domestic visitor arrivals and tourism receipts in 2025, underscoring another year of broad-based growth for the sector.
