A total of 28 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9.45am today, with Perak recording the highest number of affected areas.
According to the Malaysia Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), five areas in Perak recorded unhealthy readings, led by Tasek Ipoh at 182 and Seri Manjung at 180. Pegoh Ipoh recorded 160, followed by Taiping at 157 and Tanjung Malim at 154.
Penang, Selangor and Melaka each recorded four and three unhealthy areas respectively. In Penang, Seberang Jaya and Minden recorded 156, followed by Seberang Perai at 154 and Balik Pulau at 110.
Selangor recorded unhealthy readings in Johan Setia at 157, Shah Alam at 154, Banting at 144 and Petaling Jaya at 135.
In Kuala Lumpur, Cheras recorded an API reading of 157 while Batu Muda stood at 155. Putrajaya also recorded an unhealthy reading of 157.
Negeri Sembilan recorded unhealthy readings in Nilai at 157 and Seremban at 151, while Melaka’s affected areas were Bukit Rambai at 148, Bandaraya Melaka at 133 and Alor Gajah at 111.
Johor recorded unhealthy readings in Batu Pahat at 152 and Kluang at 144, while Kedah recorded 160 in Sungai Petani and 132 in Kulim Hi-Tech.
Three other states each recorded one unhealthy area, with Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu at 153, Jerantut in Pahang at 152 and Kuching in Sarawak at 109.
Meanwhile, 32 areas recorded moderate air quality while eight areas recorded good readings.
Under the API classification, readings between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and 301 and above hazardous.
