Netflix has revealed a first look at its new Pride and Prejudice series, giving fans their first glimpse at Emma Corrin’s Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden’s Mr. Darcy. The new adaptation will arrive on Netflix on Dec 3.
Based on Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, the series follows the five Bennet sisters as they navigate romance, family pressure and the social expectations surrounding marriage.
At the centre of the story is Elizabeth, whose relationship with the wealthy and reserved Mr. Darcy develops through a series of misunderstandings and unexpected encounters. Her sister Jane also begins a romance with Mr. Bingley, Darcy’s friend.
The cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet and Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet. Freya Mavor plays Jane Bennet, while Rhea Norwood takes on Lydia. Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery make their screen debuts as Mary and Kitty Bennet.
The Bennet sisters’ potential suitors include Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham and Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins. Siena Kelly plays Caroline Bingley, while Fiona Shaw appears as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
The wider cast includes Anjana Vasan as Mrs. Gardiner, Sebastian Armesto as Mr. Gardiner and Isabella Sermon as Georgiana Darcy.
The first-look images were unveiled by writer Dolly Alderton at the Jane Austen Festival in Bath, England, where she also confirmed the December release date.
Alderton created the series and serves as an executive producer alongside director Euros Lyn, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter. Lisa Osborne produces for Lookout Point. Corrin also takes on an executive producer role.
The new series marks another screen adaptation of Austen’s novel, which has previously been brought to film and television several times. This version puts Alderton’s scripts and a new cast at the centre of the story.
