Kelington Group Berhad has partnered with Tata Electronics to support the development of the Indian conglomerate’s US$11 billion (approximately RM46 billion) semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat.
In a joint announcement, the companies said Kelington will support the delivery of critical infrastructure and systems required for semiconductor manufacturing, including equipment tool hookup, to accelerate the facility’s operational readiness for silicon wafer production.
The collaboration will also explore the development of local talent and advanced design-and-build engineering capabilities in India.
Tata Electronics’ Dholera facility is a planned 12-inch (300mm) semiconductor fabrication plant that will manufacture chips for applications including automotive, mobile devices and artificial intelligence, serving domestic and global customers.
Tata Electronics chief executive officer and managing director Dr Randhir Thakur said tool hookup is a critical component in establishing a reliable and efficient semiconductor manufacturing environment, enabling the integration of sophisticated production equipment.
“We are pleased to partner with Kelington as we advance the development of our semiconductor Fab in Dholera, Gujarat,” he said.
Kelington group chief executive officer Lim Seng Chuan said the collaboration would support the facility’s demanding technical requirements and contribute to the development of India’s semiconductor manufacturing industry.
The announcement did not disclose the financial value of Kelington’s involvement or a specific completion timeline for its scope of work.
