STI Edges Higher At The Open, Gainers Outpace Losers

Singapore shares opened higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) rising 12.53 points, or 0.22%, to 5,687.76 points as at 9:11am.

Market breadth was positive, with 138 gainers against 54 decliners. Trading volume stood at 89.44 million securities, valued at S$200.54 million.

Among active counters, UMS Holdings rose five cents, or 1.83%, to S$2.79, while DBS Group Holdings gained to S$77.50. Seatrium rose to S$2.11, AEM climbed to S$10.54, UOB increased to S$42.31 and OCBC Bank rose to S$31.63.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding gained to S$5.22.

In the REIT segment, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust was unchanged at S$2.26. CapitaLand Ascendas REIT rose to S$2.31, while Frasers Centrepoint Trust gained to S$2.09 and Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust edged higher to S$1.21.

On the derivatives market, total volume stood at 12.71 thousand contracts as at 9am.

FTSE China A50 Index Futures for September 2026 stood at 14,666 points, with volume of 1,197 contracts, while Nikkei 225 Index Futures for December 2026 stood at 66,850 points.

SGX FTSE Taiwan Index Futures for September 2026 stood at 4,321.25 points, while FTSE China H50 Index Futures for September 2026 stood at 15,835 points.
