Bursa Malaysia remained slightly lower at midday on Sept 25 as profit-taking emerged in selected heavyweight counters, particularly industrial products, banking and telecommunications stocks, amid mixed regional and global market trends.
At 12.30 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 1.14 points, or 0.07%, to 1,671.17 from its previous day’s closing of 1,672.31. The index moved between 1,668.81 and 1,675.47 during the morning session.
Elsewhere, the FBM 70 rose 85.44 points, or 0.48%, to 17,840.25, while the F4GBM gained 0.94 point, or 0.09%, to 1,009.99.
The FBM Emas advanced 12.13 points, or 0.1%, to 12,453.40, while the FBM Shariah added 21.09 points, or 0.17%, to 12,312.81.
Despite gains in the broader indices, market breadth remained negative, with 506 losers against 474 gainers. Another 503 counters were unchanged, 1,440 were untraded and 43 suspended.
Among the top losers, Nestle (M) Bhd fell RM1.42 to RM90.04, while Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd declined 36 sen to RM30.
Petronas Dagangan Bhd slipped 28 sen to RM19.72, Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd lost 27 sen to RM5.71, while United Plantations Bhd eased 26 sen to RM32.84.
On the positive side, Pekat Group Bhd climbed 29 sen to RM2.93. Batu Kawan Bhd, Southern Cable Group Bhd and Solarvest Holdings Bhd each gained 28 sen to RM20.28, RM2.87 and RM4.18 respectively. Rounding up the top gainers, Samaiden Group Bhd advanced 21 sen to RM2.90.
Meanwhile, AIMAX Bhd was the most actively traded counter, rising half a sen to 1.5 sen on 257.41 million shares, followed by Zetrix AI Bhd, which was unchanged at 19 sen on 50.53 million shares, while TWL Holdings Bhd was flat at 2.5 sen on 27.14 million shares.
Velesto Energy Bhd slipped one sen to 22 sen on 26.04 million shares, while Gamuda Bhd added one sen to RM4.85 on 24.42 million shares.
Turnover stood at 2.01 billion shares worth RM1.25 billion.
