Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he has yet to receive the formal resignation letter from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, adding that any further action will only be decided after the letter is received.
“Wait for the letter,” Anwar told reporters briefly after attending the UiTM Alumni Gathering here today.
Anwar had previously said he wanted to meet Loke before making a decision on the resignation offer. Loke had said he would submit the letter after returning from China, where he accompanied Anwar on an official visit.
According to Astro Awani, Loke’s decision to resign followed the conditional pardon granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which allows him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
Loke, who is also DAP secretary-general, has maintained that his decision to step down from the Cabinet remains unchanged, while other DAP ministers and deputy ministers will remain in the Unity Government.
